Peter Oundjian conducts the Colorado Symphony in Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra, the piece most people know from its opening blast in 2001: A Space Odyssey. That famous fanfare gives way to a much longer, stranger tone poem, full of shifting moods and a solo violin that carries a lot of the argument.
Boettcher Hall's the room for it, with the orchestra at full size to handle Strauss's massive scoring.
