Garrick Ohlsson takes on Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Rune Bergmann conducting. It's one of the toughest concertos in the repertoire, dense and romantic, built for a pianist who can handle both the technical weight and the sweep of the melodies. Ohlsson has the chops for it.
The performance is at Boettcher Hall in Denver, the orchestra's home stage.
