Peter Oundjian leads the Colorado Symphony at Boettcher Hall for a program pairing Gershwin with Mahler's Symphony No. 1, the "Titan." Pianist Helene Grimaud joins for the Gershwin, bringing her own touch to music built on jazz harmony and American swagger.

The Mahler closes things out, a big early symphony full of folk tunes, funeral marches, and a finale that swings from despair to triumph. Expect a full orchestral sound in a hall built for it.
