The Colorado Symphony Orchestra takes on two Beethoven staples in one program. The Emperor Concerto pairs the orchestra with a piano soloist for one of the composer's grandest statements, and the Fifth Symphony brings the four notes everyone knows into a full hour of tension and release. Conductor Peter Oundjian leads, with Jeffrey Kahane involved as well.
It happens at Boettcher Hall in Denver, home turf for the symphony and a good place to hear this repertoire played with some weight behind it.
