Sleep

Sleep is one of the defining bands in stoner doom, built around Matt Pike's guitar and riffs heavy enough to feel structural. Their album Dopesmoker is a touchstone of the genre, a single sprawling track that became a blueprint for bands chasing that kind of weight and repetition. Al Cisneros's bass and vocals and Jason Roeder's drumming round out a sound that moves slow and hits hard.

They have a show coming up at the Ogden Theatre, a good chance to catch a band whose influence runs deep through heavy music.
