The Roots

The Roots are one of hip hop's great live acts, built around Questlove's drumming and Black Thought's rapping, with a full band approach that pulls in jazz and soul instead of backing tracks. They came up in Philadelphia in the late 1980s and have spent decades proving that a hip hop group can also just be a great band, night after night.

They have a Colorado date coming up at Junkyard, a rare chance to catch that chemistry in person.
