St. Paul & The Broken Bones

St. Paul & The Broken Bones is a soul band built around Paul Janeway's big, elastic voice, the kind of singer who can go from a whisper to a full-throated wail in one line. They came up out of the Alabama soul revival scene and built a reputation for horn-driven arrangements and a frontman who throws himself into every performance, cape and all on some nights. Retro soul is the tag, but there's plenty of psychedelic and orchestral flourish woven in too.

They have Colorado shows coming up at Mishawaka Amphitheatre and the Gerald R Ford Amphitheater, two rooms that suit a band this loud and this warm in equal measure.
