Devotchka

DeVotchKa is a Denver band that built its sound on gypsy and Balkan brass, mariachi horns, theremin, and sweeping strings, blending them into something closer to old world cabaret than indie rock. They picked up wider attention scoring the film Little Miss Sunshine, but the band's own records, from Una Volta to 100 Lovers, carry that same cinematic, romantic sweep.

They come back to Red Rocks now and then, a fitting home turf stage for a band whose music already sounds built for a big room and a night sky. Colorado dates are on the calendar, worth grabbing tickets for if you want horns and strings filling that amphitheater.
