Marquis Theater
The Marquis Theater is a 450-capacity live music venue at 2009 Larimer Street in Denver’s Lower Downtown, tucked at the crossroads between the historic LoDo core and the legendary Five Points neighborhood. Operated by Live Nation, it is one of Denver’s premier small clubs for rock, punk, metal, and hip-hop — known for intimate sightlines, punchy sound, and a reputation for booking emerging talent before they break.
The building has a murky but lively past — the venue’s own telling acknowledges “varied and veiled rumors” of prior lives as jazz clubs, juke joints, and movie parlors. The Marquis opened in its current form in 2006, with Bayside becoming the first band to take its stage. Nine years later, in 2015, the venue underwent an extensive renovation adding updated sound and lighting systems and expanding the bar. Live Nation assumed booking and operations in 2018, folding the Marquis into its network of mid-size Denver clubs alongside the Summit Music Hall and the Fillmore Auditorium.
The 6,552-square-foot space is almost entirely general admission and standing room, with a handful of bar stools and tables available on a first-come, first-served basis. The layout is single-floor with no balcony, keeping every spot in the room close to the stage. An ADA section is available for guests who need accommodations. Marquis Pizza operates on-site, serving a full menu on show nights. Past performers include New Found Glory, Bouncing Souls, Cage the Elephant, Wiz Khalifa, and Mac Miller — many of whom played the Marquis before achieving wider fame.
