Lucero brings Memphis grit to Mishawaka Amphitheatre, mixing alt country and southern rock with the kind of worn-in songwriting that made them a road-tested favorite far outside their hometown. Ben Nichols' rasp carries the weight of bar band nights and heartbreak ballads in equal measure.
The Mishawaka setting along the Poudre Canyon makes a fitting backdrop for a band that has always sounded better outdoors, loud, and a little rough around the edges.
