Gregory Alan Isakov brings his hushed, detail-heavy folk songs to Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony filling in the arrangements. His records already lean orchestral, strings and brass working around that quiet voice, so a full symphony behind him is a natural pairing rather than a novelty. Expect the songs to open up, with more room and weight than the solo band versions.
Red Rocks handles this kind of show well, and Isakov has made it something of a tradition. It plays like a night for listening, not talking.
