THE STRAY CATS
The Stray Cats helped bring rockabilly back into the mainstream in the early 1980s, built on stand-up bass, slapback guitar twang, and Slim Jim Phantom's stripped down drum kit. Brian Setzer's guitar work and songs like "Rock This Town" and "Stray Cat Strut" turned a retro sound into real chart success and kept the style alive for a new generation.
They have a show coming up at Pikes Peak Center, a chance to catch a band that helped define an entire genre revival still playing it live.
