Joe Hisaishi

Joe Hisaishi is the composer behind the scores for nearly every Studio Ghibli film, including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Princess Mononoke, along with a long list of other film and orchestral work in Japan. His music blends classical minimalism with sweeping, melodic film scoring, and he's conducted orchestras around the world performing it. He has Colorado dates coming up at Boettcher Hall.

For anyone who grew up on Miyazaki's films, hearing this music played live by a full orchestra is its own kind of event.
