Evanescence

Evanescence built their sound around Amy Lee's voice and piano, pairing gothic rock atmosphere with heavy guitars in a way that made them one of the defining alternative metal acts of the 2000s. "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" turned them into a rare rock crossover act on pop radio, and Lee's presence as a woman fronting a heavy band opened doors that a lot of the genre hadn't opened before.

They've got a show coming up at Red Rocks, which is about as good a stage as this music gets.
