Endea Owens

Endea Owens is a bassist and bandleader who came up through Detroit's jazz scene and built a name for herself as a sideline player before stepping out front with her own group, the Cookout. She's played with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and her own records lean on deep pocket grooves that pull from gospel, funk, and straight-ahead jazz in equal measure.

She has a show coming up at Telluride Town Park, a good chance to catch her band working that same warm, groove heavy sound live.
