Digable Planets built their name in the early 90s with a jazz rap sound that leaned on samples, upright bass tones, and easy, conversational flows. "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" became their signature, and it still holds up as one of the smoothest hip hop singles of that era. Butterfly, Ladybug Mecca, and Doodlebug traded verses with a chemistry that felt loose but sharp.
